What Does DEI Have to Do with Space? At ASU, Everything

Even the School of Earth and Space Exploration has been captured by ideology

At Arizona State University, even the stars are woke.

The School of Earth and Space Exploration—yes, the one that studies astronomy, geology, planetary science, and astrophysics—has made Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) a top priority.

I’ve captured a screen recording of their inclusive community material (link). It’s worth your time to see how they are very clear about their goals. What you’ll see is a department built for science, now spending its energy on social engineering, identity politics, and racial discrimination.

I’m not saying that a committee for the “right kind of inclusion” sounds like something straight out of the French Revolution. Maybe more a Solzhenitsyn novel?

Their own words make it clear:

Provide regular inclusion-related training

Hire and support BIPoC faculty

Provide regular inclusion-related training and class discussions on topics including implicit bias, microaggressions, bystander intervention and intersectional identities

Let’s pause and ask: why?

What does implicit bias training, intersectionality, or racially preferential hiring have to do with understanding galaxies, planetary systems, or the structure of the Earth?

Absolutely nothing.

And yet, this is what they proudly say they’re committed to.

This is not the pursuit of objective science.
It is the pursuit of political conformity to their critical theory.

In fact, one could reasonably ask if they even believe in objective science anymore. The logic of DEI and critical theory teaches that all knowledge is socially constructed—and therefore, biased. The solution? Inject it with the right kind of bias: theirs.

Parents and Students:

If you’re considering ASU, or this department in particular, know what you’re walking into.
This is not a neutral institution. For some time, it is a university that has been run under this critical theory orthodoxy. It is infused into all of their programs both in Humanities and STEM. This program’s web page tells us they see everything through an identity politics lens, and they are willing to use their power to remake science in that image.

State Legislators:

This is what your constituents’ tax dollars are funding:
An institution that openly promotes racial discrimination under the banner of DEI and “inclusive communities,” in direct violation of constitutional law and equal protection.

President Trump and Advocates of Free Inquiry:

This is a direct violation of the Executive Order against DEI and racial discrimination in federally funded programs. That states, “Illegal DEI and DEIA policies not only violate the text and spirit of our longstanding Federal civil-rights laws, they also undermine our national unity, as they deny, discredit, and undermine the traditional American values of hard work, excellence, and individual achievement in favor of an unlawful, corrosive, and pernicious identity-based spoils system.” (Link).

How many federal grants flow through this school? And how many more will go to those who comply with ideological litmus tests?

Elon:

You are leading the way on space exploration. Will you be relying on university graduates that were put through DEI training at ASU?

Science is supposed to be the pursuit of truth—not the redistribution of identity-based advantages.

But at ASU, even the Earth and stars have been colonized by this ideology.

We’ll keep watching.
And we’ll keep recording.
