ASU’s Humanities Institute sent out an email wishing us all a season’s greeting and a Happy Holiday. ASU’s calendar recognizes Dec 240-25 as “holiday break.” I wonder what holiday falls on those days? Who is remembered and worshiped around the world on Dec 25? From reading ASU’s material, you’d never know.

However, their Humanities Institute tells us what they want to be known for in the humanities. Here’s the quote: “We aim to situate Arizona State University as a formative knowledge hub in the Southwest for Queer Studies, Transgender Studies, and Sexuality Studies and the emerging (sub)fields in the interstices yet to be named.”

Parents, if you have a child interested in the humanities, is this what you expect them to be taught? The sex philosophy of Kinsey and Money? Perhaps your child attended a classical education charter school like the Great Hearts system. If they hope to continue learning the humanities in their college career, is ASU a viable option as long as it makes this their featured goal? Parents, you can respectfully let ASU know your thoughts on this. One way is by contacting their leadership. Another way is to send your children somewhere else.
