If you let them, the leftist professors will tell you what they really think—and it's far more revealing than any criticism, because it’s in their own words and they don’t even realize it.
The Chronicle of Higher Education is one of the best sources for this. Its only real function is as an echo chamber where leftist educators reassure each other with, “you’re OK and I’m OK.” It’s not worth the bytes or the paper it’s printed on—except that it gives us a window into their confused and bitter minds.
They did it again the other day with a study claiming that, in order for college students to succeed, all their bills must be paid by the government and/or the government-run university.
“The survey found a striking degree of consensus between administrators and faculty members on the extent of the progress their institutions have made.” Of course, because they have engaged in discriminatory hiring so that 97% of the faculty are left or far left.
And then they were honest about whose bills they want to pay: those who qualify under DEI programs. Administrators and faculty members polled expressed concern that they won’t be able to fund a comfortable lifestyle for the “right” kind of students now that DEI funding is under threat. That tells you who they want to give their money to: DEI recipients.
My question: is it or is it not an insult to be called “DEI?” They object if they are called a “DEI hire” but then they also seem to be proud to qualify as one of the “DEI marginalized identities.” They can’t have it both ways. Well, that’s not true, they can have all the contradictions they want as this entire philosophy is based on self-contradiction. Thankfully, the larger society has caught on and no longer takes them seriously.
What was the number one bill students said they want covered? Mental health services. That’s what they most want from a university—a free therapist to help them process their identity dysmorphia. Free room and board would also be nice. Don’t forget internet access and a Netflix subscription. That, apparently, will help them study harder.
The truth is that they have made universities receiving public funding into their indoctrination camps and community centers. Every university must showcase its mental health facilities, gym and spa, and food court. Pursing wisdom and virtue is not even on the list for the parent tour.
This is a key part of the larger conversation we must have about rethinking public funding and accreditation for universities. They are explicitly telling us they want to redistribute wealth to DEI-qualified students by paying their bills so they can have more free time in college.
They persuade the public to support this agenda first by hiding it—and then, when it’s exposed, by using emotional manipulation and abusive empathy. They appeal to pity: “Why wouldn’t you want to help the marginalized gain access to a better life?”
Don’t fall for it. Contact your state and federal representatives and tell them: no more public funding for universities until they end these discriminatory and ideologically-driven programs. Let’s end funding and take away accreditation from universities that engage in these racist projects.
This. My university provides a banner that begs the question as to whether students feel "sad" or "overwhelmed" and therefore must head on down to Health Services to get themselves cleaved to some pharmaceutical.
At a recent faculty meeting, one professor was vaunted for noticing a student's "sadness" and shunting him down to the Health Center. "He was so grateful!"
I know this has nothing to do with DEI -- just an observation that one of the primary missions of the university has become diagnosing students' mental health.
Another boundary-crossing member of our department literally prescribes ADHD medications to students she's tutoring. When she boasted about this on FB, I asked if she's a medical professional. She got defensive. She's the ADHD specialist in our Learning Center! Yeah, says I, but are you a medical professional?
This same faculty arrived to her class an hour late on the day after the election. Openly weeping. A Chinese national student told me that she passed around a loaf of bread, obligating each student to partake in 'the last supper,' i.e. the final days before her rights as a woman are taken away.
At least the student went to Trump's website, announcing to the class, "I'm going to the primary source here..." (as I taught him.)
