Body positivity is a crock but unfortunately so is Ozempic. This craze to solve a serious problem with a very effective yet dangerous pharmaceutical bandaid that you can never remove just demonstrates our need for the easy way out. Actually being healthy isn’t even a consideration. All we want is the quick fix. Maybe “Ozempic face” is just God’s little joke, a little scarlet A to show who of us has been duped by the lies and fallen into the trap.
I keep getting ads for an injection called, of all things, HER. OK, losing weight is hard, and it often comes back, but this chronic laziness increasingly condoned by products such as HER and AI and all else...humanity is doomed.
And the irony of "body positivity" in a world where any minor discomfort with one's body -- justifiably so because one is fat at too young an age -- is deemed "trans" and followed by a host of pricy useful idiot surgeries...
Besides HER, I've also gotten ads for an anti-depressant that features an obese blond female saying she just doesn't feel happy...in the ad, she's lying there gazing wide-eyed at the camera, her neck swollen with excess weight. Gee, why do you feel so sad, Dakota? Could it be because you lie around eating all day?
While I’m sure Ozempic has helped many with type 2 diabetes and Wegovy has helped the clinically obese shed harmful pounds and hopeful become healthier, I am sick and tired of it being marketed for vanity purposes. Most of us have the ability to eat healthier and exercise and lose weight the natural way. If not, by all means, visit your doctor. Eating healthier and exercising is not easy and takes discipline - but it’s the best and most natural way to achieve a healthy weight. I am tired of getting constant emails about GLP 1s and how to purchase them from med spas, compounding pharmacies, etc at a discount. As if all women should be thrilled to have the opportunity to become skinny by taking a shot developed for a serious illness. I have seen Ozempic face on many friends and acquaintance and yes, it is obvious. To each their own but I can’t help but wonder if they will regret this years from now.
