I wouldn’t want my son having to deal with professors like you described. We were considering ASU last year as it has a good reputation for engineering which is his major, but we decided against it. My son is now at GCU instead and much happier as a result.
What gets me is how oblivious so many 'progressives' are that this two-tiered treatment has been going on. And if they are somewhat aware, they'll say, Well you didn't end up in a concentration camp, did you?
The other day, I saw a post that claimed Trump was denying people free speech. I couldn't believe my eyes. Basically, this person is completely ignorant to what's been going on over the past ten years?
I was labeled a "racist" by a student for asking her to volunteer to teach a lesson with another student who had volunteered. I asked the student because she was complaining that she didn't need to take the class. So, went the rationale, she would have the opportunity to prove that by teaching the lesson (it was footnotes and bibliography-- by putting that in the hands of students, I thought I was acknowledging their previous knowledge.) No-- the student presented a recording of my critique of a feminist work of "art" -- I was providing examples -- on both sides -- of what I wanted them to do....
In other words, rather like the left going nuts over Musk's "Nazi" salute, they can take any benign gesture and turn it into something that supports their offensive narrative. I had to go through a kangaroo trial with HR, wherein the student's "feelings" were held up as some paragon of virtue -- never mind my feelings having to worry about getting fired for simply doing my job.
At some point it becomes harassment. It already seems to be filing of frivolous complaints, which is arguably harassment.
More power to you 👍🏼 Use their own weapons against them. You can't claim they failed to follow their own rules and protect you until you file your own complaints and memorialize their responses.
