Ze reads Ze’s College’s newsletter. A professor at Ze’s College is recommending women no longer have sex with men who voted for Trump. Ze can see why this is very important. Men who voted for Trump do not care about women. And even worse, this professor points out that such men also do not support women’s health.
At first, Ze thought this meant these men want women to get heart disease or cancer. But Ze asked the professor, who clarified that these men do not want women to have access to elective abortions to kill the babies that were conceived by having sex with these men.
As Ze contemplated it, the profundity of this scheme became apparent. The men who voted for Trump want fewer elective abortions. The women are mad at them for this. So, these women will get revenge on the men by not having sex so that they can’t get pregnant and won’t have elective abortions. That will show the Trump supporters.
Ze felt triumphant. Slowly, a crack started to appear in Ze’s vision. It grew wider and wider. Ze began to get mad. The whole argument hinges on there being “women” who have “sex” with “men.” But those things aren’t real. They are social constructs.
The professor who tells the women students to stop having sex with Trump-voting men and that these men are opposed to women’s health care is forgetting that men can also get pregnant. That means that men who voted for Trump also do not care about men’s health because they don’t want men to have elective abortions either.
Yet, Ze ponders, even that is too rigid. What, after all, is a woman? Ze’s whole raison d'être is that these are man-made, oops, human-made concepts with no bearing on reality. Ze became a Gender Studies major to teach young students to join the revolution against gender norms. But now, a Gender Studies professor is using gender norms to . . . reinforce gender norms. This is a big step backward. Ze is deeply depressed.
However, Ze will never give up. Ze will return to stop humans from having sex with humans so that humans can still have elective abortions!
