The School of Social Transformation does it again. They have an entire reading group dedicated to what they call “Transgender Masculinity.” Now, I know from listening to ASU faculty that one of the things that keeps them up at night is “toxic masculinity.” Is this an event to help redirect us to a less toxic kind of masculinity?
For three years I held a reading group that included students and community members. We read through a great book per month. Our discussions were lively and everyone reported that it was one of their favorite events to participate in. I bet you didn’t know I did that. Why? Because my school, college, and university didn’t care.
But Anderson, you say, all three of those are always asking faculty to get involved in ways that bring community members into events and possibly encourages them to attend ASU (or send their kids). I know. It is exactly what they say they want. But it isn’t what they want.
A “great book” is a “whiteness, homophobic, patriarchal” production of the “homogenous oppression culture.” They won’t advertise that. Some time remind me to tell you about the outreach I did for my school at local high schools (something they also tell us they want us to do, unless it isn’t the right kind of high school student) and how my school responded.
This post of mine is another one to add to the list for future proof of the bias at ASU and the plans of the School of Social Transformation. But I am also working on a plan to help identify their anti-Christian project and suggest what can be done. Stay tuned.
Thank you for shedding light on all this garbage that ASU pushes on us! It’s all so abominable!
