[remember, our Zero, (“hero” assumes gender) only uses the pronoun Ze even when speaking of Ze-self].
Ze is on a radical justice tour. Ze is visiting London to demonstrate against couple-normativity. The English are doing very well in some respects. The rainbow flag is painted on crosswalks, buses, benches, and on buildings. But for all of that progress, Ze noticed that they still assumed couple-normativity. Do you see the shocking hypocrisy? Time and again, Ze would hear a single person asked if their partner would be joining them. But Ze never saw two people asked if their third person would be joining them. The need for equity is apparent. The fight never ends.
But while Ze was on this radical revolution, Ze was stopped short in front of a store. The following item was displayed with no shame. At first, Ze believed this to be an antiquarian store selling items from the distant past, when people still believed in magic. But soon, Ze realized this clothing shop was intended for currently living babies. Zee follows the science and knows that babies do not need a mother and a father. Once again heteronormativity and a couple-normativity. Throuples and beyond can produce children. Groups of people can have a baby. Ze screamed through the open store door, “How dare you.”
The outrage brought back memories of a time Ze’s own father said “now you be a good little [gender hidden for your protection, safe zone upon request].” Ze had not recovered from that trauma and now had to deal with another outrage. The Patriarchy never rests and neither will Ze.
Ze will not rest until equity and inclusion recognize the role of the throuple+ in society.
