Professor calls Trump "Hitler"
I tell parents one of the best ways to determine where to send their children for college is to look at potential professor’s social media. Find out which program your child will be attending, and it will be easy to see which professors will teach their introductory classes. If you see a professor call Trump “Hitler” (and you don’t even have to like Trump or plan to vote for him), this tells you that you are dealing with a fool. This is a person who is relying on shock value and emotion rather than just giving an argument.
I tell legislators that if they want to see how taxpayer money is being spent by state universities, again, just look at the social media pages of professors. A professor who says that those who believe that God ordained marriage to be between a man and a woman are “homophobes” is a fool. They are telling you that they cannot reason they can only emote.
The ASU faculty policy manual reminds professors that although they do not officially speak for ASU they do have a calling to be examples of sound thinking and engagement. When professors resort to insults against conservatives and Christians, they are violating that policy.
Social media is a gift for this reason. It is a window into how a person reasons. A professor at the college level should be an excellent reasoner. Anything less is not worth you time or money.
