I address my substack to parents and potential students. They need to know what ASU professors and administrators are actually pushing in the classroom. When they find out, they decide ASU is not for them. ASU must compete in the market of ideas, and if it is pushing incoherent philosophies in the classroom and its programs, people will look elsewhere for an actual university education.
My school teaches the decolonizing philosophy, has a whole program on decolonizing, and teaches that Christians are the oppressors. If asked to choose between the Aztecs and the Christians, they would choose the Aztecs. Many of the professors at ASU West are politically active and have signs on their office doors that promote their political opinions, such as “RESIST!”, “defund the police,” and various sexual images and philosophies.
Why would a parent or student choose to be in such an environment? When will ASU apply its own by-laws to such professors to enforce the rule that we should not use our offices or classrooms to promote our political opinions?
Thanks for providing transparency for families to know what they are getting into at ASU.
(I used to be a professor there too.)
