Liberation from what to what?
There are many people who will promise liberation from some problem or another. Whenever someone comes along and tells us they can liberate us, we need to ask what they will liberate us from and into what new condition they will place us. For example, in Romans 6, Paul explains that sinners are slaves to sin. It is only through Christ that sinners can be liberated to righteousness. In the presentation at the ASU honors college below, what is the liberation they offer?
Parents, do you wonder what kinds of talks are put on at the ASU honors college? And do they represent a range of perspectives? In order to answer these questions, I look forward to seeing the advertising posts from the honors college. This also helps me understand why honors professors would not want to hear from Dennis Prager. What I haven’t seen: presentations that deal with alternative viewpoints on topics like gender and sexuality.
The talk below is standard for what you will find at the ASU honors college. I have not seen any talks that give an alternative viewpoint about human sexuality. It explains why the honors professors got so upset about Dennis Prager. He has written a “rational commentary” on Genesis where he defends marriage as ordained by God and between a man and woman. He defends the idea that God made men and women in His image and with a purpose for each gender.
The conflict at the honors college is not primarily political. It is religious and philosophical.
Parents and students, it is important for you to know ahead of time the kinds of resources and content the honors professor will provide you with. This allows you to set your expectations and decide if this honors college is a good fit for you.
Donors, it can be tempting to think that your money can shape the next generation of leaders. Before you commit, talk with T.W. Lewis about his experience and look at the content the ASU honors program actually produces.
Legislators, we know ASU can do better. You can help.
Pastors, you need to be aware how the Biblical Worldview is treated by such professors and what members of your churches will be facing at this honors college.
