One of my areas of study is Reformed Theology, especially the theological tradition represented by Charles Hodge, Benjamin Warfield, and Princeton Theological Seminary. I was recently at Princeton University for a conference and took the short walk to visit Princeton Seminary.
Princeton Theological hasn’t been Princeton Theological for a long time. The last time I spoke with students there, they said their professors spent their time arguing about what is the best reading of Karl Barth. The Seminary changed focus not long after Warfield’s death and hasn’t recovered. But just how much has it capitulated to the culture? Perhaps the question is, has it retained the Christian faith?
One event at Princeton Seminary summarizes the answer to those questions. This isn’t ASU, this isn’t a secular university, this is Princeton Theological Seminary.
