Parents, would you want your child attending a university that encourages discrimination against people based on skin color? Of course not. After all, both Federal and State law prohibit discrimination. And here is what ASU’s Academic Affairs Manual says:
“Arizona State University is committed to providing an environment free of discrimination, harassment, or retaliation for the entire university community, including all students, faculty members, staff employees, and guests. ASU expressly prohibits discrimination, harassment, and retaliation by employees, students, contractors, or agents of the university based on any protected status: race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity, genetic information and Title IX sexual harassment.”
And yet, ASU is honoring Ibram X Kendi as the featured speaker on race relations. He is one of the thought leaders of the “antiracism” movement. Here are some quotes of his to help you understand what “antiracism” means. You’ll see it is more of the same neo-Marxist religion about oppressors and oppressed. He believes that if you are an oppressor then it is good to discriminate against you. A nd who are the oppressors? Anyone who disagrees with him.You won’t find any ASU professors writing letters to their dean about why he should not be permitted to speak at ASU for advocating discrimination.
From an interview on NRP:
“I define an antiracist as someone who is expressing an antiracist idea or supporting or an antiracist policy.” When you define a word by using the word, you haven’t actually defined it.
“The only remedy to past discrimination is present discrimination. The only remedy to present discrimination is future discrimination.” “The defining question is whether the discrimination is creating equity or inequity. If discrimination is creating equity, then it is antiracist.” Equity only measures material goods in their philosophy. Things like the knowledge of God are available to all persons at all times.
Disparities between groups are prima facie evidence of discrimination. “Racial inequity is evidence of racist policy.” His argument is circular and not empirical.
“There is no such thing as a not-racist idea, only racist ideas and antiracist ideas.” He only sees the world through the lens of racism. Everything proves racism.
Kendi has proposed a “Department of Anti-racism” in which “formally trained experts on racism” would “monitor public officials for expressions of racist ideas.” This department will make sure you don’t think the wrong thoughts.
You’ll find a lecture of mine about his book “Antiracism” on my Youtube channel.
