My college, ASU’s New College, is proposing to change our bylaws so that you must subscribe to the “antiracist” philosophy of Ibram X. Kendi and the “decolonizing” philosophy of Anibal Quijano. There is no clause allowing for dissent or protecting intellectual freedom. I will keep you updated as I pursue avenues to protect the ability for a dissenting position. Imagine if the college were moving to require subscription to Platonism or Augustinianism. Nope. But Kendi and Quijano? Yep. It is a clear overreach, and the more people know about it, the better. Parents, this is what New College will require your students to believe if you send them there.
