Credit where credit is due

I am the faculty advisor for three ASU TPUSA student clubs (different campuses). Two deans of students asked to meet today to talk about the clubs as we get closer to the election. They said they are meeting with all political clubs just to check in.

It was a positive meeting. I was encouraged to hear that they want to support TPUSA at ASU and the freedom for conservative students to speak and debate.

There has always been this kind of disconnect at ASU. You will have faculty who work to keep conservatives out of the Honors College or who use DEI statements in hiring after ASU said they won’t do that anymore. But President Crow has publicly defended free speech and affirmed that it is central to the life of a university. These two deans reflect that healthy attitude as well.

The purpose of my posts is to work for change at ASU and this kind of meeting gives me hope.
