Can a student question the political narrative of a professor without it harming their grade? One of the most common complaints I hear from students is that they feel pressure from their professors to accept a political narrative with which they do not agree. The professor is bringing their personal beliefs into a class and then coercing their students into accepting them. This often has to do with a radical general ideology, hyper-racialist ideology, or Marxist political and economic theory. At a State University where the professors are State employees, they are not to use their classroom to advance a personal political viewpoint.
I realized that parents might not be aware of how this affects their students at the university. One way I can help is just by explaining these ideologies and giving updates on events promoting that perspective at ASU. I am going to explain without giving much commentary. The material will speak for itself, and parents can decide if this material is consistent with what they expect out of a university education for their child.
