ASU put out a “fact check” after Ms. Atkinson wrote an article for the WSJ. It is worth going over it even though it is severely outdated. Ms. Atkinson's testimony at the Az Legislative hearing debunks ASU’s position.
Point 1 is false, as Ms. Atkinson showed clearly at the hearing. Digital advertising was taken down. Remember, the 39 professors wrote as Barrett Professors, not as private citizens. They then used ASU resources to promote their beliefs that Dennis Prager et. al. are white nationalist bigots. This includes using classroom time to promote these personal beliefs and intimidate students.
Ms. Atkinson has audio recordings of these meetings where she was pressured and intimidated. Later, she was retaliated against. This is all contrary to freedom of speech, but ASU is currently protecting harassment, intimidation, and retaliation as free speech while doing nothing to address the chilling effect for conservatives and Christians.
This one is amazing because they admit to censoring free speech about politics (one of the main topics it protects).
This one admits that the professors protested, thus intimidating students. That, coupled with using class time, lets students know their grades are at stake.
Mr. Lewis now has his side of the story out. ASU mistreated him and allowed Barrett Faculty, writing as faculty, to slander and libel him. Check out his story. https://fb.watch/l-XzAxe5hu/
This is the normal process that ASU follows in other cases. Ms. Atkinson had interest from donors and then must let her dean know. ASU has failed to provide any other examples where a Center was closed when new donors were willing to step up.
Donors, given how Mr. Lewis was treated, do you trust that ASU will protect your right to free speech?
