Last semester at ASU, in a faculty meeting I attended, a professor told the group that the greatest threat facing the United States is white supremacy. This was said with a straight face. The rest of the faculty agreed. I tried not to laugh.
Some ASU employee training videos have been exposed for teaching racial determinism. This view says that history and individual actions are based on race. It is the opposite of what MLK taught us. He taught us to judge not on race but on character. Such theories are generally rejected as “racist.” And yet, the leftists who developed these employee training videos for ASU are obsessed with race-based explanations and racial determinism.
In August, ABOR conducted a review of the state universities and free speech. Each university sent a report to ABOR saying, “we’re doing great.” The extent of ABOR’s oversight was to read the reports and say, “they’re doing great.” ABOR needs to do its job and critically review the state universities for serious violations of free speech, retaliation against conservatives, and possible violations of Federal and State discrimination laws.
The Goldwater Institute has contacted ABOR about ASU employee training that teaches the United States is structurally racist. This training focuses on the role of “white supremacy” as the center of the intersectionality diagram of prejudice. In 2022, the Arizona Legislature passed A.R.S. 41-1494, which prohibits the state and its agencies from using public money for training that gives any form of blame for race.
Here are a few of the topics ASU teaches in these employee training videos
What is white fragility
What is white privilege and how is it normalized
An individual’s moral character is determined by the individual’s race, ethnicity, or sex
Meritocracy or traits such as a hard work ethic are racist or sexist or were created by particular members of a particular race, ethnic group or sex to oppress members of another race, ethnic group, or sex.
Critiquing whiteness
7 ways white people can combat their privilege
Sexual identities are linked to power
The Goldwater Institute says that if ABOR does not act and prohibit ASU from promulgating these theories of race blame, ABOR will be exposed to potential litigation. I will keep you updated.
Parents and students, you need to be aware of the race-blame and racial determinism that these ASU employee training videos teach and that are taught in classes.
